INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis-based High Alpha has formalized an effort billed as "more intentional" professional development for the women of its portfolio companies. The Blue Angels initiative involves guest speakers and mentoring groups focused on community outreach and better representation in the tech community. High Alpha Vice President of Talent M.T. Ray calls it a "unique differentiator" when it comes to talent attraction, retention and development.

She says "after our initial success, we decided to formalize the program, expand its impact and name the program the ‘Blue Angels.’ The Blue Angels will provide tremendous value to the women that work across High Alpha companies." Ray and Managing Partner Scott Dorsey say its a key issue for the venture studio and the industry. "The underrepresentation of women in tech is a complex issue that occurs across the talent pipeline - from early education to employee attraction, retention and development," says Dorsey. "High Alpha is committed to leveraging our unique capabilities to address this problem, including the Talent Services we provide portfolio companies, our venture fund and cross-portfolio programs like Blue Angels."

High Alpha says its portfolio companies currently employ 230 and around one-third are women. Leaders say the initiative aims to build on a "platform for more intentional professional development and represent women in tech in the broader Indianapolis community."

High Alpha companies include Octiv, Lessonly, Visible, Sigstr, ClearScholar, Zylo, Doxly, Structural and Quantifi.  Continue Reading on Inside Indiana Business
